How to Fix Your Skateboard

Make sure you have a skate tool handy.

If your skateboard is not completely demolished, here are a couple things you can try to avoid a new deck purchase.

➊ If you notice any cracks or chips on your deck, the first step is to remove the grip tape. Once that’s done, clean the surface thoroughly and then use epoxy to fill and seal the damaged area.

➋ After allowing the epoxy to dry for a full day, use fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out the surface. Once that’s done, you can apply fresh grip tape to the deck.

➌ In the case that your board is warped, you’ll need to remove the trucks and wheels. Submerge the deck in water for 12 hours.

➍ After the 12-hour soak, place the deck on a flat surface and place a heavy object on top of it. Leave it like that for 24 hours. This will help the wet wood regain its original shape.
