Featuring tropical and citrus flavors, 'They Call Me Hey' is one of Dewey Beer Co.'s signature brews.

Double Locations, Double IPA, Double the Fun

Dewey Beer Co. burst onto the scene in Dewey Beach almost ten years ago and has shown no signs of slowing down since. Not only has it expanded its distribution footprint dramatically, it has also opened TWO locations in that time. The accolades have grown as well. In March, they were voted the #1 Best Brewpub in the country by USA Today! If you’ve been to their Dewey location this probably comes as no surprise. An eclectic yet delicious menu awaits you; think ridiculously good wings, exceptional burgers, and also the best vegetable lo mein you can find. As for the beer lineup, you’ll see hazy, hop-forward IPAs, unique fruited sour ales, and a handful of refreshing lagers. After a day at the beach, my go-to is El Trono, their Mexican Lager.

If the mountains are calling, and you must go, you could probably still find yourself some Dewey. About 1,800 miles away from their OG spot, you can sip on Swishy Pants, Secret Machines, and Sun Camps thanks to their newest location in the RiNo District of Denver, Colorado. If you’re local and looking for that rocky mountain high a little closer, head on over to Harbeson. You can expect those same Dewey vibes, without the headache you earn from navigating traffic and finding a parking spot. They’re even slinging fresh wood-fired pizzas from right next door at Pizza Machine.

Pizza… beer… what about my beach bod? They are one step ahead of you. Every Tuesday at their Dewey location they host their weekly Run Club. Starting at 6 pm, runners and walkers start a three-mile loop that heads towards Rehoboth and ends back at the brewpub, often followed by some well-earned refreshments. After your fifth run, you get an honorary Dewey Beer Run Club shirt.

Forgot your sneakers at home? No worries, 16-ounce curls are more my speed when it comes to exercise anyway. Lucky for us, Dewey is bringing back an old fan favorite from the beer vault. On Friday, June 21st they are re-releasing They Call Me Hey, a double dry-hopped Double IPA loaded with a king’s ransom of Citra, Galaxy, and Motueka hops. “This is one of our original hazies and one that we get asked about constantly. After three-plus years, it will be fun to bring it back,” says Head Brewer, Jon Schorah. It’s tropical, citrusy, and just what the doctor ordered to recover from your run club fun. Disclaimer: this is not actual medical advice, it just happens to work for me, cheers.
