Labor Day is right around the corner, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end. In fact, things are getting pretty hoppy around here.
Coastal Wilds will host its fifth annual Brews & Roos Saturday, Sept. 19. Ladies and gentlemen, mark your calendars. This is one you won’t want to miss.
Coastal Wilds in Frankford has been serving up epic experiences for years. The zoological park is home to all kinds of creatures, including kangaroos, sloths, capybaras, camels, zebras, fennec foxes, armadillos, alpacas, aardvarks and more. Heck, you can even swim with otters if it tickles your fancy.
Coastal Wilds is known for hosting multiple events throughout the year, but Brews & Roos is the crème de la crème.
Brews & Roos, of course, is built around beer and kangaroos, as the name suggests. This year, more than 20 breweries will be on site, including Big Oyster Brewery, Burley Oak, Dogfish Head, Garage Beer, Heavy Seas Beer, Mispillion River Brewing, RAR Brewing and Tröegs Independent Brewing, to name a few.
Seltzers, cocktails and other beverages will also be available. Food trucks will include SmashMouth, Taco Reho and Pretzelvania.
Live music has always been part of Brews & Roos, but this year, organizers are turning it up to 11. The lineup is packed with some of the bigger names in the reggae-rock scene, including Artikal Sound System, SensaMotion, Trevor Young, Ted Bowne and Michael Sky.
And last but certainly not least, the ’roos.
Guests can explore the Kangaroo Walkabout and get close to these fuzzy friends before sampling begins. Afterward, they can check out the rest of the park and see what other characters might be hanging around.
There will also be a vendor village, raffles, games and prizes. Proceeds will benefit Kids Saving the Rainforest, a nonprofit organization that works closely with Coastal Wilds to rescue wildlife in Costa Rica.
“Brews & Roos brings together an incredible lineup of live music, over 20 breweries and, of course, up-close encounters with our kangaroos and other unique animal ambassadors, all while supporting wildlife rescue,” said Zach Bova, brand manager at Coastal Wilds. “It’s going to be an amazing day of music, discovery and unforgettable experiences for a great cause.”
Beer sampling runs from noon to 5 p.m., with live music continuing until 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at coastalwilds.org/brews while supplies last.
