Outside the Box

A Celebration of Art, Creativity, and Community

Step into the unexpected Friday, July 25 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Artpothecary in West Rehoboth, where artist Orion Cameron presents Outside the Box – a joyful, multimedia art show made for all ages, all people, and all creative spirits.

Known for his spontaneous and emotionally driven style, Orion works with a mix of materials: spray paint, pastels, paint markers, and more – applied to unconventional surfaces like cardboard, paper, and upcycled objects. His process is rooted in feeling – what’s in the moment, what’s in the music, what’s alive in the atmosphere. The result? A vibrant, immersive experience filled with energetic visuals, playful installations, and thought-provoking texture. Expect a space transformed – walls buzzing with color, stories, and rhythm.

And to make it even more fun? A live DJ, free prints and stickers at the door, and a welcoming, all-inclusive vibe.

But Orion’s story – like many artists in the Rehoboth area – isn’t just told through paint. He’s also the co-owner of Grandpa Mac, a beloved local restaurant and food truck known for creative comfort food and made-from-scratch pasta. Like his artwork, Orion’s food is inventive, community-minded, and full of personality.

This dual life – as artist and restaurateur – is something many in our beach community share. The people pouring your drinks, cooking your food, and serving your table often carry brushes, instruments, and sketchbooks in their bags.

Take Gracie Schlapo, for instance – founder of Revelry Grace, a handmade macramé and jewelry brand, and also a bartender at Dewey Country Club. Or Keith Warren, an art teacher and photographer who recently launched K-Pies, a pop-up pizza business serving wood-fired pies at local farmers markets. And Asher Truitt, a gifted musician and visual artist who brings his creative sensibility to both his art and his work at Dogfish Head in Rehoboth.

This kind of creative crossover is part of what makes our community so vibrant. When you support local restaurants, bars, food trucks, and shops, you’re often supporting artists in disguise – people making, dreaming, and shaping culture in every corner of their lives.

Outside the Box is more than an art show – it’s a reflection of that spirit. It’s an invitation to see things differently, to celebrate creativity in all its forms, and to recognize the artists all around us – at the easel, behind the bar, on the grill, and everywhere in between.

Join us at Artpothecary July 25. Come curious. Leave inspired.
