Fresh Picks & Local Kicks

Visiting a farmers market may not be on most beach activities lists, but locals know that’s where a lot of great food (and fun) can be had.

Our farmers markets offer differing combinations of local vegetables, fruit, flowers, herbs, baked goods, plants, jams, meat, seafood, prepared foods, beverages, and even arts and crafts. Each has its own personality, from the charming Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market, traditionally opened by a bagpiper, to the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, which offers special events such as chef demonstrations and tomato tastings.

Rehoboth Beach

Held every Tuesday in Grove Park, this nonprofit market brings together more than 40 vendors offering everything from local produce and baked goods to handmade items and global spices. All vendors are based within 100 miles of Rehoboth.

Lewes

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market operates Saturdays in George H.P. Smith Park and Wednesdays at Crooked Hammock. With its focus on sustainability, the market offers a vibrant mix of fresh food, chef demos, children’s storytime, and special events like the Tomato Festival.

A lesser-known gem is the Nassau Valley Farmers Market, where one may enjoy locally made wine or sangria while listening to live music (bring your own chair).

Bethany Beach

Sunday mornings in Bethany bring a casual, community-driven farmers market to the PNC lot. Founded by local citizens in 2007, it features nearby growers selling fresh-picked produce and encourages face-to-face connections between farmers and shoppers.

Wednesdays at the Sea Colony shopping center offer a smaller, grower-managed market. Vendors sell only what they grow, with produce often picked just hours earlier and sourced straight from Delmarva farms.

Berry Season is On! Strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are popping off at Delaware farmers markets right now – so grab them while they’re sweet.
