The Week That Refuses to Be Boring

What’s Happening July 31 – August 6

The week ahead feels like spilled paint set on a goat farm and I am here for it.

Thursday, July 31 at Freeman Arts Pavilion, start with Locals Under the Lights, where the talent is homegrown but the stage has hosted legends. See your neighbor sing their hearts out under fancy lights.

Friday, August 1 Claudia Lamy’s Piano Walks at the Artpothecary (5 to 9 p.m.) will have you drifting through West Rehoboth like a character in a dream sequence directed by Wes Anderson. Expect sounds, colors, and vibes that make linear time feel optional.

Saturday, August 2 brings the Teen Craft Fair at the Lewes Library – a wholesome reminder that Gen Z isn’t just doomscrolling; they’re hot-gluing felt and making earrings that slap. Buy something weird. It’ll age well.

Sunday, August 3 splits your heart three ways: baby goat snuggles at Goat Joy, where you’ll seriously consider a life raising goats and Soundbite Sunday at the West Side Creative Market, celebrating our friends at The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays. They’ll be serving oysters, live music, and enough local flavor to marinate your soul.

Marissa’s Picks at The Listening Booth

Saturday, August 2 – Ordinary Elephant with Nancy Maliwesky. A two-hour immersive folk set that feels like overhearing soul therapy in banjo‑tuned harmony. Husband‑wife duo Crystal and Pete Damore aren’t just playing songs; they’re building oral architecture out of sincerity and patient storytelling, the kind of art that makes you believe lyric and life might actually sync up. If you’re into Gillian Welch, Milk Carton Kids or Watchhouse vibes, this is your live mix tape.

7/31 – Songwriter’s Circle with Marissa Levy

8/3 – Sunday Social Open Jam
