Pour Weather? No Problem

There’s still plenty of fun to be had when you trade your flip-flops in for an umbrella.

If the “perfect beach day” had a definition, words like rain and clouds wouldn’t be included. Hordes of vacationers head to the Delaware beaches in the summertime anticipating plenty of sun and warm weather, but when you make plans and Mother Nature laughs — all you can do is make the most of it. There are lots of entertaining ways to spend not-so-beachy days. We asked our friends at Southern Delaware Tourism to hook us up with the best suggestions in the area.

Arts & Entertainment Check out fantastic live theater performances (for adults and kids) throughout the Cape Region, including Rehoboth Beach Film Society screenings, performances by national and regional acts at Milton Theatre and Clear Space Theatre in Rehoboth, plus art galleries like Peninsula Gallery in Lewes and Gallery 50 in Rehoboth.

Delaware State Parks Our state parks offer many programs for all ages and not all of them are outdoors. Check out the individual programming schedules for Delaware Seashore State Park, Cape Henlopen State Park and Trap Pond State Park.

Tours From history tours like Fort Miles Museum at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes to brewery tours such as Dogfish Head in Milton, tours offer the perfect way to stay indoors.

Lefty’s Alley & Eats A family entertainment center in Lewes that features bowling, axe throwing, a golf swing suite, an arcade and an eclectic dining experience.

Let’s Do Trivia Test your skills during a live-hosted game-show event. All are free-to-play weekly game shows which occur in area restaurants and bars like Bethany Blues and The Pond.

Museums Learn about local shipwrecks, pirates and their booty and much more. Local museums are housed in an eclectic list of venues including a train station, a caboose, a World War II bunker, a lighthouse, a firehouse, an airport, a mansion, a lifesaving station, a lightship and several historic homes. Hit up Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes, Nanticoke Indian Museum in Millsboro, Milton Historical Society or the Delaware Aviation Museum in Georgetown to brush up on local history and heritage.

Shell We Bounce Trampoline Park Enjoy massage chairs, an arcade, cafe and plenty of equipment for the kiddos to burn off energy.

Shopping Enjoy tax-free outlet shopping at Tanger Outlets, antiquing at House of Modern Living in Millsboro, browsing the unique boutiques lining downtown main streets like Coral Cove in Rehoboth, or combing through some really great handmade and vintage items at The Brush Factory in Lewes.
