Make the Most of August

This week, we’re hitting the sand with the Dewey Beach Sandsharks, where young athletes are learning that beach volleyball is about more than keeping the ball in play. Our cover story explores how the program is building skills, confidence and friendships while creating a community for players and junior coaches.

Marissa Levy maps out another week of live music, from major concerts at Freeman Arts Pavilion to an intimate performance on a front porch. Kadet Kelly celebrates his enduring love of “Mean Girls” as the musical takes the stage at Clear Space Theatre. Hari Cameron embraces the wonderfully weird food and fun of the Delaware State Fair, while Zeke Ottemiller finds cold drinks, Puerto Rican street food and plenty of character at Big Chill Surf Cantina. Pam George pairs dinner, live music and a meaningful mission at The Room at Cedar Grove. Nancy Sakaduski rounds up local produce stands worth pulling over for and Lana Morelli introduces us to this week’s Current Crush, The Stoke.

So hit the sand, catch a show, do something unexpected and enjoy another week in the Cape Region. We’ll see you out there.
