If you feel like the Delaware beaches have been missing a little existential weirdness, fret no more. This week will deliver a strange, glorious fever dream of music, art, nostalgia—and of course, pirates.
First up: The Friendz hit Big Chill Surf Cantina on May 15 at 5 p.m. Tyler Greene and the gang serve up a kind of sweaty, lovable chaos. Come thirsty and moderately emotionally available.
May 17: Shanty Fest in Lewes (11–7 p.m.). Cosplay your inner pirate without committing to the scurvy. Later, roll down to Art League of Ocean City for Originals Only (6–8 p.m.)—an open mic where nobody’s allowed to butcher “Wagon Wheel.”
May 21: Summer Kickoff at West Side Creative Market Hot Sauce Band, shopping, drinks, and strong “I might buy a ceramic mug and a dreamcatcher” energy.
May 24: Adult Prom at Brimming Horn Meadery. Wear something embarrassing. Regret nothing.
Marissa’s Picks
5/23 – The Listening Booth: Eric Hutchinson (Solo Acoustic): He’s THAT GUY from college who brought a guitar everywhere but was actually, like, good—but with better hair and way more relatable songs about being a semi-anxious adult human.
More to Hear the Booth
5/16 – Lower Case Blues & Gabe Stillman
5/18 – Sunday Social Jam Night
5/21 – Acoustic Open Mic Night
5/22 – The Ain’t Sisters
