This week brings a new chance to step up to the mic – and a reason to break out those bell-bottoms you’ve been dying to show off.
SAT, AUG 16 – Hippie Fest 2025, Milford
From 3 to 8 p.m., Causey Mansion transforms into a 60s paradise. The Funsters bring the live grooves, DJ Dana McDonald spins vintage beats, and food trucks take care of your munchies (no judgment). Bring blankets, BYOB, and your boldest tie-dye. Tickets benefit the Milford Museum.
Later that night, catch Surfing for Daisy at Dogfish Head from 9 to 11 p.m. This six-piece alt-folk-rock band from Asbury Park is so cool your soul might ache. Their debut album features cinematic tracks like “Flannel” and “Acrobat,” perfect with a cold brew.
Also Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., I’ll be hosting the Delaware Friends of Folk Folk Hero contest at the Dover Art League.
SUN, AUG 17 – Bear Beer Blast at Aqua Bar & Grill
Expect laughs, loud shirts, and more hugs than you bargained for. Everyone’s welcome – whether you’re a bear, a cub, or just a curious bystander wondering how you ended up at the best Sunday of your summer.
MON, AUG 18 – Vine & Brine Oyster & Wine Pairing Cruise
This 1.5-hour adults-only cruise sails from Anglers Road into Delaware Bay. Enjoy a crisp white while slurping oysters from Nancy’s James River Oysters.
TUE, AUG 19 – Open Mic at Lewes Brewing Company
There’s a new kid in town – and another chance to shine. Sign-ups at 5:45 p.m., show at 6. Acoustic-ish only – no backtracks – just raw, live creativity.

If your idea of a perfect Friday night involves soulful riffs and a dash of local legend, this is your vibe. The Spike Bryant Band takes the stage along with the moody smoothness of Lower Case Blues, with special guest Charlie “Choo Choo” Rickner adding his unmistakable charisma (and maybe a little harmonica magic).
