Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition and Art Festival

The 50th annual event begins Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the Living Legends Award Presentation and Dinner from 5:30 to 8 p.m., continues from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday with the Art and Carving Benefit Auction at 2 p.m., and finishes Sunday with events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is an international event where carvers, collectors and visitors convene to view more than 1,200 different wildfowl carvings representing more than 150 species from around the world. Competitors from all levels will try to win a portion of nearly $60,000 in prize money. The event also includes seminars, vendors, a Kids’ Corner, a demonstration by the Salisbury Zoo and, new this year, an “Old Bird” Antique Decoy competition featuring collectibles that were carved prior to 1950. Events are held at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.
