The Williams Brothers Band is a local rock band made up of young musician brothers Keenan Williams (18, a senior at Sussex Academy) and Bodhi Williams (15, a freshman at Sussex Academy). Keenan plays guitar and sings, while Bodhi holds down the rhythm on drums.
“We started the official band in 2020,” Keenan explains. At just 12 and 10 years old, the brothers had plenty of time to practice and jam during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We did virtual concerts, and that helped get our confidence up,” Bodhi said.
Their parents introduced them to bands like the Allman Brothers and Pink Floyd, and bought them instruments early on. “That’s where our love of music started,” said Keenan.
After COVID, their first live gig was at Striper Bites in Lewes. “It was really cool to see how happy we made people with our music,” Bodhi said. By 2021, they were booking paid gigs all over coastal Delaware.
This fall, Keenan is heading to the University of Virginia, where he hopes to join a band. Bodhi plans to play in his high school jazz band. But both say The Williams Brothers Band isn’t going anywhere. They’ll be back every summer – and they’re already booking.
Catch them live this season at Striper Bites, Dockside Marina Bar + Grill, and Rocking the Docks. Show dates are posted on Facebook and Instagram (@thewilliamsbrothersband), and they’re available for private parties at 646-234-9647.
CRUSH QUESTIONS:
Q: What’s your favorite part about living in coastal Delaware?
Keenan: “I enjoy the beach – driving on, surfing, and bonfires.”
Bodhi: “I love the canal and bay – swimming, watersports, and surfing.”
Q: Tell us something about yourself we wouldn’t otherwise know.
Keenan: “It’s ironic I’m the singer of the band, because I had a cyst on my vocal cord as a baby that had to be removed.”
Bodhi: “I love old comedies like The Simpsons and Seinfeld.”
Q: By definition, a crush is a brief infatuation with something … what are you currently crushing on?
Keenan: “As a musician, I’m crushing on performing. We’re busy with gigs, and I love it.”
