Brimming Horn Meadery

Beers, Bikes, and Beyond

Here at the beach, we’re pretty blessed with an extensive network of bike and walking trails. By combining the Georgetown-Lewes Trail, the Gordon’s Pond Trail, and the Junction & Breakwater Trail, you can ride for miles. It’s scenic, it’s good for you, and it sure beats sitting in summer traffic.

Perhaps all this pedaling has left you quite thirsty … fear not, friends. We’ve got some fine craft beverage establishments scattered along these trails. I told you we were blessed.

Depending on where you start and finish, you might need to shuffle your stops around, but here’s a breakdown of where you can sip while you cycle:

Located along the Georgetown-Lewes Trail, Brimming Horn serves a variety of refreshing meads – an alcoholic beverage made from fermented honey. They also offer cider, seltzer, and beer from Bear Cult Brewing on tap.

A few miles down the trail you’ll hit Dog Pirate Beer Company and Beach Time Distilling. Here, you’ll find cold craft beer brewed in-house, plus cocktails and spirits distilled on site. Pop into neighboring Old World Breads for a baked good or sandwich while you’re at it – you won’t be disappointed.

Now in its first full summer of operation, Lewes Brewing Co. has something for everyone on the draft list. With indoor and outdoor seating and direct trail access, you can go from bike seat to bar stool in a matter
of seconds.

You’ll roll right past The Station on Kings, and trust me, it’s worth the stop. Their coffee menu is excellent, and the pastry selection could make Ina Garten do a double take.

Rolling into downtown Lewes, the next stop doesn’t serve beer, but it’s still beer-centric. Dogfish Inn, Dogfish Head’s boutique canalfront hotel, offers water, coffee, and cool Dogfish merch for riders. The innkeepers are always happy to suggest other trail routes or post-ride plans.

A bit of navigation gets you into Cape Henlopen State Park, where you’ll pick up the Gordon’s Pond Trail. Enjoy the nature reset before heading toward Rehoboth. From there, hop onto the Junction & Breakwater Trail.

This beloved local brewery has award-winning beers and a laid-back vibe that’s perfect after a long ride.

And just like that, your Tour de Shore is complete. A beverage-filled bonanza powered by pedal strokes and local pride. You pedal for pints, they peddle pints. Win – win.
