“We’re making movement cute again,” Sam said with a smile.
What started with two Pennsylvania transplants looking for connection has blossomed into a welcoming beachside community where friendships grow with every step.
Cam, 25, and Sam, 27, founded Beach Babes Walking Club in June 2025 after connecting on social media.
“I moved here from Pennsylvania and didn’t really know anyone, so I messaged Sam after seeing a TikTok that said she was in Lewes, and I was in Lewes,” Cam said with a laugh. “I basically just said, ‘Do you want to be friends and grab breakfast?’”
“And we did, the next day at Station on Kings,” Sam added.
It was during that first breakfast, over coffee, that the idea for Beach Babes Walking Club was born.
“After college, besides a bar, it’s hard to meet people,” Cam explained.
“Our club is about making friends and prioritizing wellness. Walking is easier than running, and it’s healthier than a bar,” Sam said with a laugh.
The club’s first walk, held at Lewes Public Library in June 2025, drew 60 women.
“It was really exciting, and now our group has blown up,” Sam said. “We started with 60 people, and now we have more than 300 members.”
The club is exclusively for women.
“Our club is just for the girlies. We’re a girl gang of Beach Babes,” Sam said.
Women of all ages are welcome, along with children and dogs. Members range from high school students and young adults to moms and grandmothers in their 70s.
“We’re girls looking for movement, friendship and community,” Cam said.
The club is completely free, with no membership fees. Walks range from 1.5 to 3 miles and maintain a conversational pace, making it easier for participants to connect and build friendships. The times and locations of the weekly walks are posted on the club’s Instagram and TikTok accounts, @beachbabeswalkclub and @beachbabessocial.
“In the winter months, when it got too cold to walk and being outside wasn’t as much fun, we started Beach Babes Social Club so we could still get together indoors,” Sam explained. “We’ve gone to restaurants, held bingo nights and watched movies. We also had a white elephant party at Starboard Claw during the holidays that was really fun.”
While both the walking club and social club are free, some social club events require tickets. The group also collaborates with local businesses to help offset costs.
Beach Babes uses GroupMe, a free private messaging platform. A photo and contact information are required to join, but the app allows members to chat securely without sharing their personal phone numbers.
“We wanted women to feel safe connecting, and it’s working,” Cam said. “I love seeing all the subgroups where women are creating their own movie nights or weekly meetups. It’s so rewarding to know we were able to help them connect.”

“Walking clubs aren’t just a trend,” Cam said. “They’re proof that people are craving real connection again.”
