Alright babes, listen up. This week’s column isn’t about me (shocking, I know). It’s about a show that’s been quietly turning up the heat every other Thursday in Rehoboth, bringing charisma, craft cocktails, and community to the front and center stage. And it all goes down at a place that might sound like a vague GPS setting, but honey, there’s nothing unclear about the talent happening at Somewhere Restaurant.
Located at 52 Baltimore Ave., Somewhere has quickly become the place for fabulous food, strong drinks and a drag experience that feels like a warm, queer hug … with rhinestones and a side of tater tots.
Every other Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Somewhere’s gorgeous outdoor space, The Oasis, is transformed into a full-blown fantasy thanks to the brilliance and vision of Shady P, a sensational drag king and master of ceremonies who knows how to command a crowd. He’s joined by two dazzling co-hosts: the legendary Amethyst Diamond and the iconic Ivy Blue Austin. Together, they’ve created a rotating showcase of performers from across the region, queens, kings, and everyone in between, each bringing their own brand of fabulousness to the stage.
And the best part? It’s free. That’s right, no cover, just good vibes.
The show itself is a total gem, but the heart behind it is what makes it truly special. Shady P told me, “I wanted to create a welcoming, safe space where drag artists can shine as their authentic selves.” Mission accomplished. Whether you’re a seasoned showgoer or just there for the cocktails and confusion, you’ll find something to love and someone to cheer for at Somewhere.

There are still a few summer shows left, plus two fabulous fall editions you won’t want to miss. Mark those calendars, bring your friends and prepare to feel something.
WHERE TO FIND ME (AKA KADET’S CALENDAR OF CHAOS)
If you’re trying to catch me in the wild, fully beat, emotionally unstable and probably over-caffeinated, here’s where I’ll be working it next:
August 15 & 16 – Lighting up the stage at Freddie’s Beach Bar for two nights of full-volume fabulousness.
August 17 – Bringing the full Kadet experience to the legendary Purple Parrot. Come for the camp, stay for the chaos.
FINAL THOUGHT FROM YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD GLITTER GOBLIN
This community blows me away every time, every show, every performer, every wild conversation at the bar that starts with, “Wait, are you Kadet?” and ends with a selfie and me forgetting your name mid-hug.
We are weird. We are wonderful. And we are working it. So go out. Tip the dolls. Clap for the tech crew. Thank your servers. Dance in your sunscreen. And remember: the most fabulous thing you can wear this summer is authenticity.
