May I Entertain You?

How to Do Pride Right in Rehoboth

Sweetie, it’s the end of May, and you know what that means: It’s time to tuck your allergies and untuck your rainbow flags, because PRIDE MONTH IS KNOCKING – AND SHE DIDN’T COME TO PLAY.

I’m Kadet Kelly: local drag diva, walking exclamation point, and your spiritual guide through the chaos that is June in Rehoboth. Whether you’re a full-time queer, a part-time ally, or just here for the glitter and cocktails (valid), I’m here to tell you where to be, what to wear, and how to behave just enough to not get banned from Freddie’s.

KADET’S “PIT STOP PICKS”

Where I go between gigs, hangovers, and regrets:

• Best Hangover Cure: Egg & scrapple sandwich from Royal Farms, eaten in your car while contemplating your life choices.

• Best Flirt Zone: Dogfish Head’s outdoor bar. Sit alone, sip slow, and look mysterious. Bonus points if you wear sunglasses indoors.

• Best “I’m Hot but I Also Care About the Planet” Place: CAMP Rehoboth events – social justice with a side of booty shorts.

• Best Place to Sob Dramatically: The bench outside the Henlopen Hotel at sunset. Oscar-worthy.

• Best Bathroom for a Full Outfit Change: The theater lobby at Clear Space. Lighting? Impeccable. Judgment? Minimal.

TO SUM IT UP

Pride isn’t just a month – it’s a movement. But here in Rehoboth, we like our activism with a splash of vodka, a rhinestone glove, and a disco remix of Whitney. So get loud. Get weird. And for the love of RuPaul, wear comfortable shoes. The streets of Rehoboth have taken down stronger queens than you.

Until next week, stay out, stay about, and stay fabulous.

Weekend Drag Lineup

May 30: Freddie’s Follies Drag Show at Freddie’s Beach Bar (9 p.m.)

Magnolia Applebottom brings the house down to kick off your weekend.

May 31: Legends Show at Blue Moon (9 p.m.)

The name says it all. Big hair, big voices, and big talent.

June 1: Birdcage Drag Show at Purple Parrot (9 to 10:30 p.m.)

Catch me (yes, me!) holding court in the iconic cage alongside a fierce lineup of queens. Feathers will fly.
